After retirement from school administration, she followed her passion for artmaking and now proudly identifies as a professional artist. She is a member of the Cedarburg Artist Guild and the League of Milwaukee Artists, and Wisconsin Visual Artists. Jewell participates in select art exhibitions each year, displaying her collagraphs, monoprints, and other printmaking explorations.
Currently, Jewell works from her home studio and collaborates with an art colleague in a recently established printmaking studio. Jewell’s artistic journey was enriched by the mentorship of the renowned artist Paul J. Yank, with whom she worked at the Ozaukee Art Center.
